There’s nothing unusual about a blizzard in June—at least not if you’re Brad Marchand.
After scoring the double-overtime winner in Game 2 of the 2025 Stanley Cup Final, Marchand’s teammate Sam Bennett shared a playful comment about the veteran forward’s pre-game snack.
“I think Marchy grabbed a Blizzard,” Bennett joked during Saturday’s press conference, referring to the popular Dairy Queen dessert.
“Yeah, Oreo today,” Marchand added with a laugh.
This isn’t the first time Marchand has been linked to a mid-game treat. During Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final, fans noticed him eating something between periods. Many speculated it was a Dairy Queen Blizzard. Marchand later clarified it was actually honey—but didn’t deny his love for the dessert.
And really, who doesn’t enjoy a Blizzard?
The Florida Panthers had fun with the rumor on social media, leaning into the lighthearted narrative. Whatever Marchand was eating clearly worked. In Friday’s win, he scored two short-handed goals—one during regulation and the game-winner in overtime. He became the first player in Stanley Cup Final history to achieve that feat.
His mother was thrilled with the performance.
“She’s one you need to put a muzzle on,” Marchand joked, smiling as he spoke about his biggest fan.
For Panthers fans—and maybe for Marchand—Game 3 may bring more of the same. Just a note: there are two Dairy Queen locations within five miles of Amerant Bank Arena. Not that anyone on the team needed reminding.
