Choo Sung Hoon Jokes That the Bathroom in His Tokyo Home Is His Hideout

by Diana Ward

Martial artist and television personality Choo Sung Hoon revealed an unexpected side of his daily life by calling the bathroom the most comfortable space in his luxury Tokyo home, worth 5.5 billion won. His remarks sparked curiosity over whether MBC’s variety show Find Home will soon feature Tokyo after its current Osaka episodes.

The episode, which aired on the 29th, showed the second part of Find Home’s special segment, “Local Tourism Around the World.” In this installment, Choo Sung Hoon, a local guide for Osaka, explored the city alongside co-host Joo Woo-jae.

During the episode, the pair visited a Korean student living in Abeno Ward, Osaka. The student had moved to Japan two years ago to study culinary arts and recently secured a job, surprising the cast. Noticing that the student didn’t own a TV, Choo generously pulled out 100,000 yen (around 1 million won) from his wallet and gave it to the student. His kind gesture impressed everyone. Cast members jokingly referred to him as “The Man from Nowhere” and praised him as “so cool.”

Despite his generosity, Choo lightheartedly confessed that his Tokyo residence lacks personal space. “The bathroom is my hideout,” he said. When Joo Woo-jae asked, “So when we visit, are we hanging out in the bathroom?” Choo laughed and responded, “What are you trying to say?” causing amusement on set.

This wasn’t the first time Choo had shared insights into his private life. During an appearance on Radio Star in April, he talked about the backlash he received from his wife, Yano Shiho, after showing their home on YouTube. “I wanted to show my real self,” he said. “But my wife thought the house looked too messy. She got angry, and in the end, all five videos were deleted.”

He also revealed how little personal space he has at home. “There’s a room for love, but no room for rest,” he said. “I play games and check my phone in the bathroom. I can’t relax in the living room because I feel too self-conscious.”

As the episode ended, the cast playfully suggested showing Choo’s Tokyo home next. Caught off guard, Choo responded with a surprised, “Huh?”—fueling speculation about whether his high-end Tokyo home will be featured in a future episode.
