Ashley Tisdale Jokes She’s ‘Done’ As Daughter Finds Career After 19 Years

by Diana Ward

Ashley Tisdale has humorously warned about “karma” after her three-year-old daughter, Jupiter, became obsessed with one of her most famous movie roles.

Ashley, 39, first gained fame through Disney Channel shows and movies. However, she is best known for playing Sharpay Evans in the High School Musical trilogy, which first came out in 2006.

Nearly two decades later, her daughter Jupiter has discovered the musicals. Now, she constantly asks Ashley to play the songs from the movies. Ashley explained on TikTok that although Jupiter had seen the movies before, she only became interested after the family went to see a stage version. Ashley’s niece played Sharpay in that production.

At first, Ashley was flattered by her daughter’s interest. But now, Jupiter’s nonstop requests for the songs have made Ashley feel embarrassed. Jupiter even plays the music loudly in public, making strangers think Ashley is “crazy” for playing her own songs.

Jupiter also enjoys loudly declaring, “I’m Sharpay’s baby!” when they are out. Ashley finds this both amusing and a little awkward.

In a candid video, Ashley said, “She will not stop listening to the music. It’s playing in the house right now. When I’m on walks with her, she asks me to play it. When I’m in the car, she asks me to play it. Specifically, High School Musical 2.”

Her daughter’s favorite song is “Humuhumunukunukuapua’a.” Ashley admitted, “I hate that song. I’m having to listen to it over and over.”

She added, “Also, she screams out in public, ‘I’m Sharpay’s baby!’ I literally can’t. I just feel so embarrassed when I’m walking into a store and she’s like, ‘We’re all in this together’… oh my god.”

Ashley said it was sweet, but after a week of constant music, she hoped they wouldn’t have to watch it again soon.

Fans of High School Musical may know that “Humuhumunukunukuapua’a” is the 11th track on the soundtrack of the second movie. However, it never aired on the Disney Channel. Instead, it appeared in a deleted scene on the DVD and on Disney+.

The song’s name comes from the Hawaiian word for the reef triggerfish. In the movie, Ashley’s character Sharpay and her twin brother Ryan, played by Lucas Grabeel, sing the song as they tell a story about a princess searching for a prince who was turned into a fish.

Viewers commenting on Ashley’s video joked about her situation but also felt sorry for her. Many said they could imagine how confused strangers must be, watching Ashley dance to songs from a franchise she once starred in.

Some fans pointed out that Jupiter’s excitement might grow even more when she learns Ashley also voiced Candace Flynn in Phineas and Ferb, a show famous for its catchy music.

One fan wrote, “The funniest part is I just know people think YOU did this to her.”
