Kelly Clarkson recently made a playful comment about her past marriage during a concert.
While introducing her song “Because of You,” Clarkson explained, “I wrote this song when I was 16, and it’s about how family cycles can be hard to break. We learn from our parents, who learned from their parents, and we end up repeating the same mistakes over and over.”
She added that the song served as a reminder to herself to avoid repeating those patterns.
In a lighthearted moment, Clarkson seemed to joke about her marriage to Brandon Blackstock, saying, “I chose the same path, which is great… but then I thought, ‘Never mind.’ Sometimes, you’re not given the best examples of what to look for, and you don’t realize until later that this isn’t the right path. I think a lot of us can relate to that.”
Clarkson was married to Blackstock from 2013 to 2020. They share two children: daughter River Rose, 10, and son Remington, 8.
