Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart made a playful joke about the Texas Longhorns ahead of the 2025 college football season.
Although the 2025 season is still months away, fans and players have already started some friendly trash talk. College football rivalries, especially in the SEC, can be intense, but many enjoy lighthearted banter.
A recent social media video shows Coach Smart joining the fun, targeting the Texas Longhorns. Smart was attending a photo shoot for the new EA Sports College Football video game when YouTube personality Gene Dangus, also known as “Big Game Bengal,” asked him some questions. Dangus later shared the video on social media.
In the video, Dangus, a Texas Longhorns fan, jokingly asked Smart, “Is it going to be tough watching Texas hoist the SEC Championship Trophy this year?” Smart replied with a playful jab, “In what sport? Baseball or basketball?”
Last year, many considered Texas the top team in the country. However, Smart’s Bulldogs beat Texas twice last season, including once on Texas’s home field. This gives Smart some good reason to joke.
Georgia and Texas are scheduled to play again in the 2025 regular season. The Longhorns will visit Athens on Saturday, November 15th. The kickoff time and TV network for the game have not been announced yet.
