Steelers Minority Owner Makes ‘Complex’ Jokes About Aaron Rodgers

by Diana Ward

A minority owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers expressed his confusion over the Aaron Rodgers situation during a recent CNBC appearance. Thomas Tull, a part-owner of the franchise, appeared on the network to discuss artificial intelligence, but he took a moment to joke about Rodgers’ ongoing free agency situation and his potential move to Pittsburgh.

“I’m here to talk about AI, and that’s a more complex issue than artificial intelligence,” Tull remarked.

The Steelers have shown strong interest in Rodgers, 41, throughout the offseason, especially after his two-year stint with the New York Jets ended earlier this year. Rodgers visited the Steelers’ facility and met with team officials in late March, but he has yet to make a decision regarding his future in football.

In April, Rodgers explained that his personal life was taking priority over his football career at that time. “I am trying to be open to everything and not specifically attached to anything when it comes to this decision,” he said during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show.”

During the NFL draft last month, Steelers owner Art Rooney II mentioned in a radio interview that Rodgers “does want to come here” and that the team expected a decision soon. “We’re still kind of getting the same signals that we’ve been getting recently,” Rooney said on Steelers Nation Radio. “He does want to come here, so I do think we may get word soon.”

Currently, the Steelers’ quarterback room includes veteran backup Mason Rudolph and Ohio State’s Will Howard, whom the team drafted in the fifth round. Last season, Pittsburgh went 10-7 and reached the playoffs with quarterbacks like Justin Fields and Russell Wilson.
