Jimmy Fallon Jokes That Tips and $400 Million Jets Will No Longer Be Taxed

by Diana Ward

Jimmy Fallon celebrated the Senate’s recent unanimous approval of the No Taxes on Tips bill during his Wednesday night monologue. The NBC late-night host opened with humor about the surprising bill passed on Tuesday.

“That’s great news for the three people who actually report their tips to the IRS,” Fallon joked.

He then imitated former President Donald Trump. “After the bill passed, Trump said, ‘This is great news,’ and added, ‘What are taxes?’” Fallon said. He continued, “From now on, we will not tax tips or $400 million jets. That’s it. Let’s make a rule.”

Fallon also made more jokes about Trump’s $400 million plane from Qatar. He told the studio audience that the Pentagon has accepted the gift and that it could be used as Air Force One. The audience responded with boos to this news. Fallon joked, “All day, Trump had his face pressed against the window like a kid waiting for the ice cream truck.”

The plane was mentioned again when Fallon talked about Trump’s recent meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. During their meeting, Ramaphosa told Trump, “I’m sorry, I don’t have a plane to give you.” This came at a time when tensions between the two leaders were rising.

Fallon added, “And then, to tease Trump even more, Ramaphosa gave him tickets to a Bruce Springsteen concert in New Jersey.”

Last week, Trump called Springsteen a “pushy, obnoxious jerk” after Springsteen criticized him while traveling abroad. Trump also wrote on Truth Social that Springsteen “ought to keep his mouth shut until he gets back into the country.”
