Sarah Silverman has many fans, but Pamela Anderson might not be one of them.
Silverman recently appeared on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live to talk about her new Netflix special. During the interview, she shared that Anderson seemed upset with her because of jokes Silverman made about her at Comedy Central’s 2005 Roast of Pamela Anderson. They ran into each other recently at a Hollywood event.
Andy Cohen mentioned Anderson while talking about Silverman’s career and noted that Silverman had appeared in a 2002 episode of Anderson’s show, V.I.P.
Silverman, 54, said, “I will tell you something about Pam Anderson, who I think does not care for me, which surprised me.” She also said she enjoyed her time on V.I.P.
Silverman explained that she attended a big Hollywood gala last year as a date to her friend Sacha Baron Cohen, who had recently divorced Isla Fisher. Anderson was also there. Since Cohen is connected to Anderson through Borat and because Silverman had roasted Anderson in the past, Cohen offered to introduce them.
When Silverman met Anderson, however, Anderson reportedly reacted coldly. “She looked at me and said, ‘Oh yeah. You told horrible jokes about me on my roast,’ and then she turned around and left,” Silverman said. “My heart was broken.”
Anderson’s representative did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
At the 2005 Comedy Central roast, Silverman performed alongside her ex-boyfriend Jimmy Kimmel, who hosted the event, as well as other comedians like Courtney Love, Adam Carolla, Bea Arthur, Tommy Lee, Jeff Ross, and Andy Dick. In her set, Silverman joked about Anderson’s looks and the famous sex tape she made with Tommy Lee in the 1990s.
For example, Silverman said, “You know a lot of people say, ‘Oh, Pam Anderson wouldn’t be anyone without her tits.’ And that’s just not true. She’d be Paris Hilton.”
Parts of Anderson’s roast have resurfaced before. In 2018, there was renewed attention on footage from the event showing comedian Andy Dick groping Anderson’s breasts. This resurfaced after Dick was charged with sexual battery in Los Angeles.
