The New York Mets ended a seven-game losing streak on June 11 with an impressive 11-4 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. The win left both teams with a 46-31 record, tying them at the top of the NL East as they prepared for their June 22 matchup, the final game in a three-game series.
The Mets’ power at the plate was on full display as they hit seven home runs in Saturday‘s game. Juan Soto and Brandon Nimmo each hit two, while Francisco Lindor, Francisco Alvarez, and Jared Young each added one. Alvarez, who was optioned to Triple-A before Sunday’s game, still made his mark with a home run.
Lindor’s Home Run Streak: A Lucky Charm for the Mets
Lindor’s home runs have proven to be a good luck charm for the Mets. The team has won every game (28 regular season, 2 playoff) in which Lindor has hit a home run. When asked about this remarkable streak after the win, Lindor responded with a bit of humor, acknowledging the Mets’ recent struggles.
“I wish I would’ve hit home runs in Atlanta,” Lindor joked, referencing the Mets’ recent sweep by the Atlanta Braves earlier in the week.
Lindor continued, “It’s just, my home run today was one run. The guys came up today and drove in a lot of runs. It’s part of the game. Some days you hit home runs and we win, some days you hit home runs and we don’t. I guess I’m hitting them on the good days.”
Mets fans are hopeful that Lindor will keep the streak alive and go yard again on Sunday.
