During her appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show on May 13, Kesha shared her thoughts on love and marriage, joking about her future husband — or perhaps 40. The singer revealed that she’s been manifesting the kind of life and partner she desires, even admitting, “So now I’m manifesting a sugar daddy, and a yacht… maybe a couple sugar daddies. I would like at least 40 husbands.”
Barrymore chimed in, pointing out that some men have made similar claims without facing judgment, to which Kesha agreed.
For her appearance, Kesha wore a striking silver halter-neck top, which featured a unique detail — engagement rings woven into the fabric. She explained that the rings represented “all the men that have tried” to propose to her.
Although Kesha has never been married, she did reveal she had been engaged once before. In an interview with SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up in April, the singer recalled how writing music helped her realize that the engagement wasn’t the right decision for her.
“I was engaged and I didn’t want to be anymore,” Kesha shared. “I didn’t even realize I was going to break up with him until I wrote a song about it. When I listened back to it, I knew right away I had to end it.” She emphasized the importance of honesty in songwriting, adding, “You can’t lie in a song. A, your song will suck, but also, that’s not what it’s there for.”
This revelation came after Rolling Stone reported that Kesha wrote the 2023 track Too Far Gone for Gag Order following the end of her engagement.
In a March interview with PEOPLE, Kesha spoke about her evolving perspective on relationships. She mentioned exploring non-monogamous connections and being open to relationships with both men and women. Similarly to her conversation with Barrymore, she admitted that she’s currently “looking for a sugar daddy.”
“I love being open and honest about it,” Kesha said. “I’m into someone taking care of me, putting me on a pedestal, taking me on their yacht, flying me on their plane. I’m just into it, and I will not feel shame about that.”
